One Voice Sends Kids to Summer Camp: Funded Spring 2008

As one 2008 camper said: "Thank you for choosen me as one of the people to go to camp it was such a good opportunity to just be in the wilderness w/ no electronics and learn more about camp.

"We did a lot of stuff that could help me in life for one example I learned to trust the person who is given you directions, while haven fun at the same time. I love the food they make it good and the better thing about it is they always say grace before eating.

Also thank you for the gift card to target because I really needed some camp things cause I didn't have any cant wait till next year. Fellow, Lauper"

One Voice strives to improve quality of life for low-income youth and families in Los Angeles by sending approximately 100 disadvantaged children to UCLA's one-week Unicamp. The children we serve have never been away from home or on vacation, and they have never sat by a campfire, walked in the woods, or otherwise known the joys of overnight camp. A week away at camp has an immense impact on children by providing opportunities to experience the outdoors, by giving them something positive to look forward to during their summer break, and teaching them new skills and increasing their knowledge of the world around them When the boys and girls return, they are overflowing with excitement; they cannot stop talking about all their new experiences in nature.
