The Somali Family Service (SFS) used Satterberg Foundation funds to strengthen its operational capacity by educating its development manager, developing a fundraising plan, holding a board retreat and developing a new website.
Development Manager Hana Mandikova took several classes and workshops and completed a certificate in nonprofit management through Nonprofit Management Solutions and Braden University.
“The Satterberg [grant] helped me to gain lots of knowledge about the nonprofit and fundraising world”, said Mandikova, “The most important thing I learned in this process is the importance of selling the successes of the work to the funding organizations and other interested people. The most valuable environment for this work is networking events, where stories can be presented personally.”
