Sustainable Community Gardens (SCG) employed the services of Essex and Drake Funding Council in San Jose, California, which helped the SCG Board grow in its knowledge of fund raising practices and principals.

The training helped them realize that successful, sustainable fundraising for non-profits needs to be focused on individual donors rather than solely on grants and corporate giving. Board Members are now reaching out to our individual donors by making phone calls and sending personalized notes to thank each of them for their support and dedication to SCG.
